Let us briefly recall all the rules set by Nolan to make this film, and explained by Cobb in the film. They are important because without them we would not get it. But some of them seem pretty vague, especially in terms of limbo, which involves numerous discussions on the web right now. Here's how I interpret them.

First, when you enter the dream of someone to steal information, or to apply a inception, serves as his subconscious defense mechanism. It's generally not aggressive if you do not change the dream in question. However, some people have trained and have developed enough security. So when Cobb and his team get into the brain of Fischer, they are attacked directly and must therefore believe that Fischer roles are actually reversed (they are the ones who protect and c ' is its security police, who tried to steal).

Then there is the problem of awakening. There are two possible situations: either sleep was natural (or induced by the machine) and in this case, three possibilities to wake up. The first is to die. It causes an automatic alarm in the upper level (if in the first level, then they wake up in reality). Second, they can, within their dream, make a long fall. That's what they explain when they wake up Arthur by tilting his chair. Third, is to provoke a higher level "shock" or "discharge" to awaken the person. This seems logical: if you sleep and you are projected against a wall, you wake up (I hope). Second possible situation: sleep was caused by a chemical compound (a potent sedative, a sleeping pill). In this case, you should not die before the sedative continues to function. It seems only logical that we can not wake up if the sedative is still in our body. If you die, then you will be in limbo, a place composed of "subconsciousness in the rough."
Then talk time. To practice effective inception, we have to go deep into the dream of someone, that is to say, we must plunge into a succession of levels of dreams. Again, Nolan was smart in his script incorporating divergence time. In addition, he has fully staged since always fully understand the events in chronological order. And support beauty the principle, the phenomenon is ultra-logical and intuitive because it seems obvious that lorqu'on dreams, time passes faster (sometimes only barely 30 minutes, a whole day dream) . This principle leads to another even louder, if we dream that we dream, time passes much more quickly. This offers us, with the series of four nested dreams, the beautiful slow motion on the truck I mentioned earlier.

Finally, we must plan the various levels before the visit. It is for this that Ariadne, the character played by Ellen Page, was hired: to build the 3 levels they will use (the van, hotel, and the snowy fortress). It is not clear in the film, but I'm assuming that if you fall asleep in the last level of our plan (in this case here, the 3rd) we will land in limbo. It seems logical to me (in fact, when will there be otherwise?) And it seems to fit with the film's narrative.

The journey of the characters:
Mall (Marion Cotillard)
Cobb is the woman. She died in the real world. However, it continues to haunt Cobb in his dreams, as to compromise each of his missions during this inception. With Cobb, they had many experiences of interlocking dreams, from the very depths: limbo. Together they have faced so far this world of all reality, dark, and which one is not certain to return. As time passes much more slowly there, they have lived a whole life, so for 50 years. They have grown old together, alone in a world they have taken years to build. A real love story like no other. Become old, they decided to come back to reality by killing himself: they waited quietly on the rails of a train. Returned to reality, Mall reacts strangely. She has certainly matured, they have literally spent a lifetime in limbo. We learned later that if such knowledge Cobb's inception, because it was tested on Mall. During their 50 years in the depths of dreams, he changed the router Mall, and has instilled the idea that the world believed it was not real. A test that earned him enormous remorse throughout his life. In fact, Mall acting funny because she is now convinced not to live in the real world. Believing that in another dream, she decides to commit suicide to go back to reality. This gives us an intense emotional scene (one of the only film, which is a shame) with a very poignant DiCaprio. Since then, Cobb is haunted by the projection of the Mall, which attempts to derail (killing his teammates) to let him join in limbo to live with it forever. Marion Cotillard is really scary in a role she played to perfection.

Dom Cobb (Leonardo Di Caprio)
Cobb is the husband of Mall. Expert inception and extraction, he knows all about dreams and their rules. This enables him to scaffold a perfect plan to practice on an inception Fischer. In reality, it calls for Ariane create three levels of dreams in which they will evolve and widen to win the confidence of Fischer and inculcate the idea that it should not take over from his father. In level -1, nothing special about him, except that it will eventually die in the van at the end. At -2, it is therefore pass for Mr Charles Fischer and persuades them to follow. At -3, it fails, unable to kill time in the Mall, which kills Fischer before he could be incept. So he thinks he has lost everything, Ariadne offers down level remains in limbo, to recover Fischer. At -4, it must still face Mall and promises to stay with her if she releases Fischer, which she did. Then he breaks his promise. Mall tries to entice with the memory of his children, but he refuses to watch, knowing he is in a false reality and that these are only projections of his children, who wait in the real world . "Fortunately," during that time, Cobb dies in level -1, where it sinks and drowns in the van. In dying, as he is still sedated, it is projected again reset in limbo, away from Mall is always somewhere. Thus, it is collected by Saito, who is now old (because he died in the -3 level well before the drowning of Cobb in the van). He explains that he must return to reality. Saito kills Cobb. As everyone has already awakened and exited the van for a long time, their dreams are gone. Cobb then directly back into reality with others. Finally back home, he is greeted by Miles that leads home. He finally found his children, and sees their faces he had forgotten. All ends well for him. Leonardo DiCaprio is excellent throughout.

Fischer (Cillian Murphy)
Fischer is the designated successor of the company led by his father. Now that his father died, Saito asked Cobb, in exchange for his return to the USA, to practice on Fischer inception so that seed in his mind the idea of dismantling the family business. First, he was persuaded by Cobb that he must follow to escape extractors (which are not). The character is fooled from one end to another mission. He is forced to give 6-digit random from his subconscious, which will be reused later by the team. At -2, it makes him believe that his uncle is a traitor who wants to take the place of his father and wants the codes of his chest. To verify that Browning has betrayed his father, he enters the dream of his uncle (who is actually Eames). It then continues to follow Cobb. At -3, it dies, killed by Mall (this is not death itself, it is just sent into limbo, because it is still sedated in reality). Cobb and Ariane come and fetch. When Eames hears the music of Edith Piaf, he warns that there is not much time défibrilisant Fischer. This causes lightning in limbo, and Ariane Fischer thus pushes the top of the building. His fall caused his dramatic return at -3. It will therefore be able to finally enter the room where his father, who said he did not wish that Fischer takes the reins of his company, he can follow his own path. The inception is realized: the family business is dismantled. Arthur sent to landfills in the elevator, and the awakening. In the process, the van struck the water and he wakes up in level -1. It only has to wait for the sedative effect ceases to return to reality with a new idea in the head.

Ariane (Ellen Page)
Ariane is the architect hired by Cobb to create and develop the 3-level maze they must go to achieve the inception. It is his leading role and she does not much in the levels -1 and -2. At -3, while Fischer has died, she was inspired to continue to dig, again, to go into limbo and bring Fischer to finish inception. So she sleeps with Cobb and they go to limbo. Cobb showed her the world that he built with his wife Mall, which now owns Fischer. Arriving home in the Mall, they retrieve Fischer. Alerted by lightning initiated by Eames, Ariane Fischer grows in a vacuum. Then, just in time, she jumps too. His fall back to the level -3. Exactly when it happens, the discharge of the elevator at the back -2. At the same time, the van struck the water and it goes back on level -1 with others. Then she waits for the end effects of the sedative to return to reality.

Eames (Tom Hardy)
Eames is the forger. It is he who takes the identity, appearance, attitude and actions of Uncle Fisher, Browning, to make him believe that he is a traitor and should continue to follow the dream of his uncle. It also has an important role in level -3 (which is his own dream) where he is responsible for blowing the hospital. Quite honestly, I did not catch the significance of any blow and I think it did not affect the fact that they wake up or not in one of the levels. Indeed, Ariane Fischer back at -3 by their fall from the building, and everyone goes back to level -2 by propelling the elevator. If someone can explain it, I'm interested. Eames is specifically responsible for destroying the enemies (the safety outcome of the subconscious Fischer). Finally, it will have a decisive role in the end. As soon as he hears the music of Edith Piaf sound, it sends electric shocks to the body Fischer, creating lightning in limbo, a warning signal to tell them to back quickly. Revenue in the -1 in the same way that Ariadne, he talks with Fischer, who believes he is her uncle Browning. We then have a nice shot of the uncle turns into Eames.

Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt)
Arthur is one of the most important team. Its main role lies in -2, in the hotel. He is responsible for carrying out dumps on the bodies of all his teammates so they can wake up in level -2. This will cause problems. First, because he is pursued by the subconscious Fischer trying somehow to protect it. What we offer beautiful scenes of combat in zero gravity when the van rolled over. Secondly, precisely, is the weightlessness that is problematic. Indeed, and although he says Ariane before it passes the lower level, it can not induce shock as there is no gravity. However, he will find an ingenious way to solve this problem with the elevator. Thanks to him, everybody can go back at -2. Then he returned with the others at level -1 of the van through contact with water. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is really excellent in his role.

Saito (Ken Watanabe)
Finish this article by Saito, the man behind all this. The only way to Cobb to see her children is to convince Saito withdraw all charges of murder against him and his past illegal extractor. Saito because it has full authority on its possibility or not land on American soil. Thus, Cobb played his whole life on this one, because if the lens inception, it has no choice. As the plane taking him to Los Angeles, he will go directly to jail. So Saito, who asked him to practice inception. And it requires to be present at it. At -1, it is hit by a bullet but does not die. He died of his injuries in the -3 level in the hospital. In dying, as he is still sedated in reality, he was sent into limbo where he will stay there long. It was much later that Cobb will die in the van and join him, just in time to talk to him. And "much later" in the level of -1 means "50 years later" in limbo. Saito is now very old. Cobb reminds him he promised to hold in reality. Saito Cobb kills and commits suicide, thus directly back to reality with Cobb and others. Ken Watanabe is awesome as usual. It is just unfortunate that the focus of the Japanese VF is sometimes incomprehensible.

Leonardo DiCaprio , Ken Watanabe , Christopher Nolan    PG-13   Blu-ray
Acclaimed filmmaker Christopher Nolan directs an international cast in this sci-fi actioner that travels around the globe and into the world of dreams. Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio) is the best there is at extraction: stealing valuable secrets inside the subconscious during the mind’s vulnerable dream state. His skill has made him a coveted player in industrial espionage but also has made him a fugitive and cost him dearly. Now he may get a second chance if he can do the impossible: inception, planting an idea rather than stealing one. If they succeed, Cobb and his team could pull off the perfect crime. But no planning or expertise can prepare them for a dangerous enemy that seems to predict their every move. An enemy only Cobb could have seen coming.
Science-fiction features often involve time travel or strange worlds. In Christopher Nolan's heist thriller Inception, the concepts converge through the realm of dreams. With his trusty associate, Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt, a fine foil), Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio, in a role that recalls Shutter Island) steals ideas for clients from the minds of competitors.
Fallen on hard times, he's become estranged from his family and hopes one last extraction will set things right. Along comes Saito (Ken Watanabe, Batman Begins), who hires Cobb to plant an idea in the mind of energy magnate Fischer (Cillian Murphy, another Batman vet). Less experienced with the art of inception, Cobb ropes in an architecture student (Ellen Page), a chemist (Dileep Rao), and a forger (Tom Hardy) for assistance.
During their preparations, Page's Ariadne stumbles upon a secret that may jeopardize the entire operation: Cobb is losing the ability to control his subconscious (Marion Cotillard plays a figure from his past). Until this point, the scenario can be confusing, since the action begins inside a dream before returning to reality. Then, after the team gets to Fischer, three dream states play out at once, resulting in four narratives, including events in the real world. It all makes sense within the rules Nolan establishes, but the impatient may find themselves much like Guy Pearce in Memento: completely confused. If Inception doesn't hit the same heights as The Dark Knight, Nolan's finest film to date, it's a gravity-defying spectacular to rival Dark City and The Matrix. --Kathleen C. Fennessy
